What is my Skin Type?

Updated: Nov 1, 2023

Everyone's skin is unique to them; finding and knowing your skin type is crucial to maintaining healthy, radiant skin. Whether your skin is dry, oily, combination, or sensitive, understanding your skin's needs will help you choose the right products to keep it both looking its best and being as healthy as possible.

Skin Type

The last thing you want to be doing is using products that are too abrasive or reactive on your skin, as not every product or daily routine will work the same for everyone, based on the skin's unique needs. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through identifying your skin type as well as recommend our top Arlene by Amprad®Cosmetics products to help you achieve beautiful, healthy skin with the right products and routine catered for your skin.

How to Find Out Your Skin Type

Skin analysis by a dermatologist

Identifying your skin type can be done with a simple test that involves washing your face with a gentle cleanser and waiting for 30 minutes to observe your skin. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup from your skin.

Step 2: Pat your skin dry with a clean towel and avoid rubbing your skin.

Step 3: Wait for 30 minutes, and during this time, do not apply any other products to your skin.

Step 4: After 30 minutes, observe your skin to see how it looks and feels.

Dry Skin:

If your skin feels tight, itchy, or appears flaky or rough, you have dry skin. Dry skin is caused by a lack of moisture therefore it's essential to use products that can hydrate and nourish the skin. We recommend using Arlene by Amprad®Cosmetics Renewing Face Cream, which is enriched with natural ingredients such as Seaweed Marine Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Moringa, Prickly Pear and Camellia Seed oil to help regenerate and replenish dry skin. You can also layer this cream with our Marula Facial Oil to further repair and nourish dry skin

Oily Skin:

If your skin looks shiny and appears greasy or slick, then you have oily skin. Oily skin is caused by overactive oil glands so it's crucial to use products that can help regulate oil production without stripping the skin of its natural oils. We recommend using our Soothing Face Wash, which is infused with Raspberry Extracts, Avocado Oil and Oat Lipid oil that can help cleanse and purify oily skin. We also have a Purifying Hyaluronic Face Mask that can be used as a weekly kaolin-clay treatment to help absorb excess oils and deep clean the pores; to ensure the skin is rebalanced and refreshed.

Combination Skin:

If your skin has a mixture of dry and oily areas then you have combination skin. Combination skin requires a balance of hydration and oil control, and it's important to use products that can cater to both needs. Again we recommend our Renewal Face Cream as it is a lightweight formula that can hydrate dry areas while controlling oil in the T-zone. You can also pair it with our Soothing Face Wash to balance oil production and cleanse the skin thoroughly to avoid breakouts or clogged pores.

Sensitive Skin:

If your skin is easily irritated and prone to redness or inflammation then it’s likely you have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin requires gentle, non-irritating products that can soothe and calm the skin. Once again our Renewing Face Cream is suitable for sensitive skin. It’s fragrance-free, gentle on the skin and contains plenty of nourishing ingredients like Moringa Seed Oil, Prickly Pear Oil and Hyaluronic Acid that can help keep the skin hydrated as well as soothed.

To re-illiterate, knowing your skin type is the first step to achieving healthy, radiant skin. With the help of Arlene by Amprad®Cosmetics key products you can cater to your skin's unique needs and achieve beautiful, healthy skin.
